High Ping in TF2

WRT54G v4 such a bitch to break new firmware in, but same shit as the GL. v2 was the best - enough hardware to route some serious bandwidth. rumoured that version could handle medium sized businesses (~200) if you crossed a few switches (and swapped it to the B-Private range) to it. heck of a deal for $80.

Strangely enough, was fine up until about a week and a half ago, when I left for Toronto.

i came back, and,though NO ONE had touched my laptop or my network for a week... my Ping's have gone through the effin roof.

like, over 500 all day today...

and yet, nothing d/ling/u/ling, no one abusing my network... insanity.

I asked my roommate to do that the other night, and he claims he did, but I'll try that again once I can get his lazy ass out of bed for more than 2 minutes.

(disadvantages to having the router NOT in a central location.)

OK. The reason I ask is because even if no one is dling stuff at the moment if BT has been running at any point it can fill the connection table and render some residential routers useless even after just a few minutes of use.

My friend gets this and he lives 2 minutes away, i get 5 ping (or so) and he gets in the 300's, dunno why
