Possible way to lower your ping?

    Hey guys,

I followed this guide to disable networking-specific services on my xp machine. I did it for security reasons. However, after restarting I noticed my ping has been reduced down to 50-60 average.

Normally my ping is 90-100 avg.

Try it out (remember to restart after disabling the services, also restart modem just to make sure) and let me know.

Thanks for the post. I have gone through the list and disabled a bunch of the unnecessary services. I will post what I find.

I'm not as anxious to take 5 year old advice as I would be to take something from the past couple of years. Software requirements change and stuff that wouldn't be thought of as needed back then might be more common now. Even still, I took a look through my services anyway.
