We still have Bell and a recently downgraded Rogers Lite package and our caps are 65 w/ Bell ($50/month, we're on our "3 free months") and 25GB w/ Rogers Lite ($25, + $25 in the additional bandwidth charges because I can burn 25GB without running a download/torrent.
I have.... lol.
When we got our cogeco account we never set up our cogeco email address lol. Apparently they'd sent numerous email warnings for excessive bandwidth usage... which I never got haha. So one day my internet stops. I reset the router, and the only webpage that will show up is a cogeco one, saying that was an interruption warning, because i had apparently not heeded the email warnings lol. Then there's a waiver thing, you click a button to accept, and you get your internetz back. I dunno if I've come close again yet, that was only like 2 months ago haha.
this happened to me in Vancouver. I blew my monthly internet usage, they shut off my interenet, i called em up to see what the deal was.
They said i used my bandwidth for the month and there would be 2 options, they can reconnect my internet for the rest of the month on a slow line ( about 56k modem speed ), or they'll turn it back on like normal and i pay $5 per additional gig.
Then the guy sais, "but the system isnt working yet, so i'll just turn it back on"
i was blown away, i couldnt understand it lol, i asked him like 3 times "so u mean i dont have to pay anything?" and it was back up like before with no cap for the rest of the month
As far as i know, if you buy a cable modem not approved by Rogers, they theoretically can't monitor your usage. Downside is that the modem may not work at all.
We've had download limits for years with Videotron. They started rolling out different cable modems to new customers and they didn't have the technology to monitor them. So i got them to replace my original modem with the new one with no limit through some shady actions on my part. Lasted about 9 months that i could download as much as i wanted.
If you switch over to TekSavvy for your ISP you get a 200GB up/down limit for $29.95 a month or unlimited bandwidth for $39.95 a month.
You'll still be on your Bell line for DSL so your speeds won't change and you'll still be throttled because of Bell but you won't have to worry about the bandwidth.
Although, from what I hear, Bell may have some evil plan in the works to stop ISPs like TekSavvy from providing bandwidth limits higher than they offer.
Why should I have to WORK for everything?! It's like saying I don't deserve it!
