    Silent Hill 5: Homecoming.

This is my first impressions of the game, since I haven't finished it yet, but I will post another review once I do.
First, let me start by saying that I'm a huge fan of the series. I've played the first one on playstation a while back with a buddy of mine, and, quite frankly, I would not play it any other way. I was scared shitless to play it by myself, let alone in the dark. And that factor has remained in every single sequel until Homecoming. Silent Hill: Origins was released for PSP and Playstation 2 and I never played it, but from the looks of it nobody really considers it as a separate Silent Hill game.
Let's start from the fact that Homecoming was not developed by Japanese Team Silent (who developed first 4 games), rather it was Californian Double Helix Games who made the game. And that's probably the root of the problem. It's not that it's a bad game, it manages to capture the general atmosphere of the game, the music is amazing as always thanks to brilliant Akira Yamaoka who has been creating an incredible atmosphere for every single Silent Hill game where any fan of the series would WANT to get an official sound track. The game also has very good visuals and great story. It's just not bloody scary anymore! It can be creepy at times, but in no way is it Survival/Psychological horror game anymore. The combat system is very good I would admit, but that's not the point of the game! You shouldn't be able to kill everything that moves and walk away with no danger. Silent Hill used to scare the bejesus out of you and you would not want to fight anyone, but simply run away as far as possible. Also, I noticed that the game was influenced by the Silent Hill MOVIE, which was plain terrible! Just that really pissed me off and almost made me /uninstall.
Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind, but something tells me it's not gonna happen. It's a good game, it's just not the same scary shit it used to be.
P.S. decided to write this review (or whatever you may call it) once I've seen only 2 lonely threads in the Reviews / Articles sub-forum. Any other fans of Silent Hill? Anyone else played Homecoming? If so, what are your thoughts?
