    Valve releases map source files

I think as a player and a mapper for TF2, I need to be excited for this news:
    http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=2578

This means anyone will have the source files for TF2 maps, thus being able to edit them at their will.

Releasing the source files for a lot of TF2's default maps is a great idea. It's gonna result in a lot of variations in the maps and a lot of fixes that the player base has been wanting.

Hopefully it brings life into not so popular maps like Hydro, or fixes problem maps like 2fort.

Anyway, it's just cool that Valve went and did this. I'm excited for what people make of this.

    Can someone say: pl_dustbowl?

Dustbowl is inherently awful. Make a payload hydro map and take out the one really awful hallway.

make a cp map out of 2fort and put a cap point on the bridge for battlement spawn and a cap point for the intel but make the resupply at the bottom of straight stairs the secondary spawn....

    could work...

If I knew how to use the damn map editor I would try something like that....

Nevermind - I was thinking of doing this in a "pipeline" sort of way... Start in the intel room, push through the courtyard, across the bridge and down the stairs into the opposing intel room.

would be really cool to see how the arena maps would work made into short cp_maps... always liked the 'alpine' looks of ravine and lumber yard it was something different. Don't know how well that would actually work... they might even make decent intel maps.
    meh...
