    Tour de France 2009

Anyone watching it so far? Stage 3 is on OLN live right now, and OLN should be carrying it live during the mornings than replaying them at night every day/whenever the stages are. Bonus is that this is Lance Armstrong's comeback year for bike racing, also there's a bunch of good riders for this Tour, so it should be a good race. You can also follow online on the official Tour de France site.

As a bonus this year, the live streaming data also shows the concentration of steroids in each riders blood at any given time. It updates every 30 seconds so you can track their speed/roids ratio.

If you guys are not interested in the topic just don't post. Why does everything have to turn into you guys putting down other people's interests?

I don't watch it live but I will sometimes catch the recaps on the news later on. I always like watching the giant pile ups.

Seconded. Too much of this going on lately.

It's funny - I usually couldn't care less about the race, but I watched a few hours of coverage last year when I was out of town in Alberta, and it was actually pretty interesting to watch.

I'll probably just follow results and catch highlights on SportsCentre in the morning.

That being said, I think Armstrong was/is juiced.

The roid/epo issue is always there, but the fact is, because these are pro riders, they ALL do it, instead of in amateur (i.e. world cycling champs and olympics) where only some do ;p.

But I highly recommend watching it at least a bit, because the commentators are very well informed and even if you don't recognize the names, they give you a great idea of how the overall race is progressing and the importance of each race, part of the road, the weather, each push by which ever team. This commentary is usually (imho) a lot better than it is at the olympics on the cycling, or a bunch of other mainstream sports for that matter, it's very beginner friendly.

Thirded! Maybe I'll be able to start an MtG topic soon :3

I don't know much about the tour de France, so I was wondering, how does the whole team dynamic work. Why is there a need for teams in the first place?

I for one, was not putting it down, I think it's quite interesting. I also am not afraid to poke fun at things I find interesting either.

I follow it every year. We have a TV at work so I can usually procrastinate and catch it live in the mornings. Never been interested in Lance though, I like seeing the underdogs and rookies win stages and get their 15 seconds in the spotlight...
that and kind of interested in how the Cervelo Test Team will do this year.

*CERVELO (for people who read and post in threads they don't care or know jack shit about) is a high end bike manufacturer based in downtown Toronto. They make 'effing sweet bikes that most of us could only dream about having enough cash to afford (just a frame+fork @ $4500). Also much of their research and development for their carbon fiber technology was done during local races in and around southern Ontario. Well some of it...
