surprised this isn't up already.

personally, I think it's a severe disappointment, but who knows. maybe it'll turn out better than expected. <shrugs>

honestly... I was thinking, man, this could be a killer device if XYZ and none of those things were applicable... capacitive pressure sensitive touch screen (think giant Wacom tablet), possible line in / out display features (or does it already have this?) such that it could be treated as an extra monitor, and... yeah...

I don't know. I guess I just wasn't expecting... this... oh well. I'm not the target market I guess.

pretty much.

I guess they've got the whole ebook thing going with this, but it's a backlit IPS screen since people want and expect a full shiny multimedia experience. I've heard mention that e-ink is much easier on the eyes (and as someone with light sensitivity, that'd prolly be a factor for me), but perhaps they're going to hit one out of the park on this one.

this plus PDF functionality and textbook contracts with McGraw Hill... hm. could be devastating, I suppose.

my roommate (an Apple fan) got all rapturous about it and I was looking at him show me the webpage and thinking to myself... um... so... yeah...

as for the under $1000, I think they'll do the usual thing with making slim profits off of the first gen of customers, and in subsequent revisions take it home to the bank.

now if this could be used as a second monitor... with pressure sensitive touchscreen... I'd be excited, and I'm not even an artist! I guess I should hold my tongue until it's out for awhile and let the chips fall where they may.

I view this device as aimed at the people who want a nice kitchen/coffee table computer.

Something to quickly look up recipes, or to browse the web/news when you get home from work.

No wireless HDMI, no 3D, no hybrid screen, no flash, no multitasking

Pricing is important, and though there's obviously the apple premium, it could have been a lot more innovative

Overall not impressed... but I gotta say 10 hours of battery life is impressive (especially when considering it can play HD video for all of it as Apple claims). I was hoping it wouldn't look so framed : [ the mock-ups done by people where it had the black framing similar to the iPhone was much sleeker.

Would make for a good bathroom experience, though.

im not sure what it's role is supposed to be =\ its too big for ur pocket so ur not gonna take it everywhere, and if im lugging around something in a case... it might as well be a netbook =\

i kinda just dont get it.
