I guess they've got the whole ebook thing going with this, but it's a backlit IPS screen since people want and expect a full shiny multimedia experience. I've heard mention that e-ink is much easier on the eyes (and as someone with light sensitivity, that'd prolly be a factor for me), but perhaps they're going to hit one out of the park on this one.
this plus PDF functionality and textbook contracts with McGraw Hill... hm. could be devastating, I suppose.
my roommate (an Apple fan) got all rapturous about it and I was looking at him show me the webpage and thinking to myself... um... so... yeah...
as for the under $1000, I think they'll do the usual thing with making slim profits off of the first gen of customers, and in subsequent revisions take it home to the bank.
now if this could be used as a second monitor... with pressure sensitive touchscreen... I'd be excited, and I'm not even an artist! I guess I should hold my tongue until it's out for awhile and let the chips fall where they may.
