Apple's marketing it as the "best way to experience the web, email and photos" ...but is it really? It's not as portable as the iPhone/iPod Touch, going from pocket-size to bag-size, so if you're already going to need a bag to carry it around, why not just take your not-that-much-heavier, way-more-usage Macbook/laptop?
I'll admit, having a bigger iPod Touch is cool and all... but for $500? With probably less battery life when using energy-eating apps? I'll admit, in the iPad-vs-iPod Touch comparison, the iPad is a better eBook and email/internet device - but in the iPad-to-Macbook/laptop comparison, doesn't it lose out on almost every front? So what the hell kinda market is the iPad for? Gah! I'm just confused.
EDIT: Damn Peter for posting my point before me! :P
2ND EDIT: I guess Wesley's point is the only thing that makes me understand this a little more... but I feel like that's too elitist a niche for Apple to aim for, isn't it? Until, of course, they come out with the iPad Nano - AN IPAD THAT FITS IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND! AMAZING!
