The Toronto/Ottawa rivalry was fucking great. Back in middle and high school, I would drop everything to watch it. I admit I was a bandwagon jumper but shit was intense. You couldn't not jump on that wagon.

Glad to see Giguere is already doing well in Toronto. Toronto has always been exciting with a good goalie. Potvin, Joseph and Belfour were fun to watch.

Also, a bunch of Leafs fans (including ones in this thread) seem to hate on Ottawa fans / the team itself for no rational reason. It's really sad to see people justify retarded rivalries as such.

To be fair, Ottawa fans probably do it too and I just don't notice.

I didn't stat blowing my nose at Ottawa fans until I ran across a few of them who couldn't stop hating on Leafs. Irrational hate. Their perseverance paid off in my irrationally hating them now.

For the most part I agree. I'm more likely to follow players that I enjoy watching than a particular team. Basing how much you like a team on where you live is kind of a weak reason. But I can kind of understand it in the past when you're only able to watch one team because of limited broadcast options. Now that a lot of people have the chance to actually watch any team on a regular basis with things like NHL Center Ice they have a better opportunity to enjoy watching teams for their style of play.

While most teams change identities quite often, there are some organizations that stay the same, and then it's pretty understandable when people like or hate a particular team. The Flyers have been assholes pretty much forever, and everybody should hate them.

I actually used to like the Senators. They used to have a lot of exciting offensive talent on their team and were fun to watch. But I think it's pretty easy to pinpoint exactly when I lost respect for the team
